We know that you want to stay healthy this cold and flu season and keep your family from getting sick as well. So, we are sharing some tried and true strategies for protecting your health, including some you may not have thought of.
Wash Your Hands Like a Dentist – doctors and dentists wash their hands dozens of times a day, preventing germ spreading and protecting their own health. This same strategy can work for you and your family, too.
Drink Hot Tea with Honey and Lemon – honey has antibacterial properties and the citrus steam can help keep your sinuses healthy. This drink has been revered for it’s medicinal properties for hundreds of years, maybe even longer.
Bring Your Own Pen – you can prevent picking up bacteria and viruses by not using public pens, especially in pharmacies and doctors’ offices. Keep your own on hand instead.
Breathe Out When Walking Past Someone Sneezing or Coughing – usually after 8-10 feet you are out of the danger zone.
Don’t Touch Your Face – If all your preventive measures fail and you end up with viruses on your hands, you can still help keep them from entering your body by keeping your hands away from your face.
Separate Family Toothbrushes – some families store all their toothbrushes together in one container. When one person has been exposed to a virus and their toothbrush touches others, the entire family can get sick.
Sneeze Into Tissues or Your Arm, Not Your Hands – once again the goal is to keep from getting the germs on your hands where they will spread easily.
Sanitize Surfaces – viruses can live on surfaces like faucets and desks as long as 48 hours. That is 2 whole days. Take time to wipe the surfaces in your home and office clean regularly and provide your family with sanitizing wipes for door knobs, hand rails, and other places that carry germs.
We are wishing you a happy and healthy season that does not include catching a cold or the flu.
