Nitrous Oxide Relieves Fear of the Dentist

man afraid of the dentist dental anxietyYou do not have to let dental fear and anxiety stop you from taking care of your oral health anymore. Nitrous oxide dentistry can make going to the dentist seem like a walk in the park.

Taking care of your teeth and gums is critical since we now know that inflammation or infections in your mouth can contribute to life threatening medical conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s. And, if it’s been at least a year since your last dental visit it is likely that you have one of the leading causes, periodontal disease, also known as gum disease.

We specialize in patients who are fearful and could tell many stories of how people’s lives have changed thanks to nitrous oxide. There are no needles or IV’s involved. It’s as easy as breathing and allows you to relax and feel good during your dental visit.

Don’t let anxiety or fear stop you from taking care of yourself. The condition of your mouth could be shortening your life and no one wants to lose teeth, have bad breath, or a smile you feel embarrassed to share.

implant dentures snap on dentures in Knoxville

Loose, sloppy, and uncomfortable dentures are a thing of the past.  New implant supported dentures that snap securely in place have revolutionized the denture experience for our patients needing to replace teeth.

If you or someone you love have ill-fitting dentures you would like to replace or are getting dentures for the first time, you will find the process both simple and comfortable.

Small dental implants are placed in the jaw where teeth roots used to live.  This can be done with local anesthesia, but we also offer oral sedation for those of you who might feel nervous or prefer it.

Dentures are made with snaps that will fit to the implants. You simply slide your dentures into place and then snap them in.  They unsnap easily when you want to take them out.

Why Real Men Take Care of Their Teeth

man-2166254_640

Studies show that men are less likely to go to the dentist on a regular basis or focus on preventive care than women. That is, unless their wives talk them into it.

But, we believe men should be taking care of their teeth too, especially if they don’t like being in the dental chair.

Regular check ups and professional teeth cleaning can help prevent most dental problems, which means fewer toothaches, emergencies, and expensive treatment plans.

Here is what one man’s man has to say about taking care of his teeth.

If you don’t have a dentist you love, give us a call. Our office is a no judgement zone and we promise to take great care of you.

Oral Sedation Dentistry is Easier than You Think

oral sedation dentistry

It’s bad enough to be afraid of the dentist, but for some of you a lack of information can make the solution sound scary too.  What you may not know about oral sedation dentistry is how easy it is and how pleasant your experience will be.

First of all, it is safe and effective.  The medication we use has been used safely for decades.  It is really easy too!  You simply take a pill.  No IV.  No extra needles or shots.

Most patients describe a feeling of being completely relaxed, but awake, and they often do not remember their dental visit later. They  are always  happy and grateful that we make this experience available to them.

Sedation dentistry is convenient too.  In most cases you can get all of your dental treatment completed in just one visit.  You save time, trips to the office, and have fewer opportunities to be nervous about your treatment.  Some patients choose sedation dentistry for this reason alone.

If fear of the dentist has been keeping you from taking care of your health or having a smile you are proud of, there is no reason to wait anymore.  We have helped many people just like you have comfortable, relaxed dental experiences.  We love seeing them change from feeling ashamed and fearful to happy and proud.

You can become one of our happy patients, too!

Oral Sedation Dentistry – Safe, Easy, & Comfortable

stuffed lamb goes to dentist

About 30% of the population avoids dental care due to anxiety and fear.  This not only jeopardizes their oral health, but puts them at risk for major diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

Sedation dentistry allows you to get the dental care you need while feeling relaxed and comfortable.

Oral sedation dentistry is safe and does not involve being asleep or require needles for IVs.  Patients report that:

  • They feel relaxed
  • Time goes by quickly
  • They are sleepy, but awake
  • They often forget the appointment later

Because patients are completely relaxed, the dentist can accomplish more high-quality dentistry in less time.  Sedation dentistry is also ideal for people who are challenged by a  gag reflex or who want to accomplish a smile makeover or extensive dentistry with as few appointments as possible.

If you or someone you know are avoiding dental care due to fear, anxiety, or time constraints, ask about oral sedation dentistry.  Not taking care of your teeth can be dangerous and may shorten your life.  Start getting the dentistry you need in a way that feels safe, comfortable, and right for you.

Oral sedation dentistry can help put a smile on your face again.

Oral Sedation Dentistry – Not Just for Dental Fear & Anxiety

afraid of dental chair dental fearWhen we think about oral sedation dentistry, most of us picture people who are afraid of dentists or have a lot of dental anxiety.  While these patients are the primary users of oral sedation in our practice, there are other reasons people choose sedation that might surprise you.

Oral sedation dentistry may be a good option if:

You have a lot of treatment to get done – with sedation dentistry we can often get all of your treatment completed in one visit, making your dental care easy and convenient. Many people choose this option so they can take just one day off work and not have to come in for several visits.  It is also an excellent choice for people who are very busy, need treatment completed quickly, or travel a lot.

You have a strong gag reflex – for some patients even the simplest dental procedure can become an ordeal.  Oral sedation dentistry is an effective solution for people who gag easily or have trouble holding their mouth open.

Your dental treatment is complex or will require long appointments – in some cases, being able to have the longer visits sedation makes possible will allow your dentist to provide the best possible treatment for your situation.

Your teeth have a history of being difficult to numb – some dental patients require more local anesthesia than others and there are also times when teeth don’t get numb at all. Larger amounts of local anesthesia, especially with epinephrine, can give patients headaches or jitters after their treatment and there are limits as to how much can be given safely.  Oral sedation dentistry allows these patients to have the treatment they need without being concerned about their teeth getting numb.

Sitting in a dental chair is uncomfortable for you – if you have back or neck issues that make your dental visits hard on you, oral sedation can help make them easier.

The next time you or someone you love needs to have dental work, remember that oral sedation is an option that can save time and help you be more comfortable during the process.  You simply take a pill and your dentist does the rest.

One word of caution – be sure that the dentist you choose for oral sedation dentistry has the required advanced credentials and training.
