Nitrous Oxide Relieves Fear of the Dentist

man afraid of the dentist dental anxietyYou do not have to let dental fear and anxiety stop you from taking care of your oral health anymore. Nitrous oxide dentistry can make going to the dentist seem like a walk in the park.

Taking care of your teeth and gums is critical since we now know that inflammation or infections in your mouth can contribute to life threatening medical conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s. And, if it’s been at least a year since your last dental visit it is likely that you have one of the leading causes, periodontal disease, also known as gum disease.

We specialize in patients who are fearful and could tell many stories of how people’s lives have changed thanks to nitrous oxide. There are no needles or IV’s involved. It’s as easy as breathing and allows you to relax and feel good during your dental visit.

Don’t let anxiety or fear stop you from taking care of yourself. The condition of your mouth could be shortening your life and no one wants to lose teeth, have bad breath, or a smile you feel embarrassed to share.

We encourage you to  give us a call and learn more about how we can help you take care of your mouth in a comfortable and caring way. We promise not to judge you if it’s been awhile since your last visit. We understand and will take excellent care of you.

Don’t Let Fear and Embarrassment Keep You from Taking Care of Your Teeth

Because we have offered sedation dentistry we see a lot of people who really, really do not like going to the dentist. Many of them have not walked through the door of a dental office in years.

Fear and anxiety often play a big role in their avoiding dental care, but after a while embarrassment is likely to set in. When they are finally ready or have a dental emergency and come in, many actually try to apologize for the condition of their teeth.

There is no need to apologize or feel ashamed. We know that the condition of your teeth does not reflect on who you are. It simply means something got in the way of your taking care of yourself.

Once our patients get to know us, they realize that we are not going to judge them. We appreciate their courage in coming in and focus on helping them with their dental needs.

We know that by taking care of their oral health they will be improving their medical health, as well. Dental conditions and oral bacteria have been linked to diseases like diabetes, cancer, erectile dysfunction, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and more. Our goal is to help all of our patients stay healthy, happy, and smile more often.

If you are one of those people who have been avoiding dental care, we want you to know that you deserve to be respected and cared for in a compassionate way.

Our team is known to be gentle, caring, and dedicated to excellence. Dr. Smith is experienced at almost all dental procedures so referrals to specialists are seldom needed. You can trust that his dental work will look good, feel good, and last a long time.

Now is a great time to take that first step towards a healthy mouth. Just imagine how proud you will be of yourself and your new smile.

Why Real Men Take Care of Their Teeth

man-2166254_640

Studies show that men are less likely to go to the dentist on a regular basis or focus on preventive care than women. That is, unless their wives talk them into it.

But, we believe men should be taking care of their teeth too, especially if they don’t like being in the dental chair.

Regular check ups and professional teeth cleaning can help prevent most dental problems, which means fewer toothaches, emergencies, and expensive treatment plans.

Here is what one man’s man has to say about taking care of his teeth.

If you don’t have a dentist you love, give us a call. Our office is a no judgement zone and we promise to take great care of you.

One Stop Dentistry – Less Time & Fewer Appointments

save time - man in a hurry

In many dental offices, patients are referred out to specialists for root canals, implants, extractions, and periodontal gum disease.  This can be especially challenging for people who don’t have time or feel anxious about each visit to the dentist.

Dentists who provide oral sedation dentistry, like our Dr. Smith, are used to doing all of the treatment in one sitting without specialists.  They have the experience and knowledge needed to work efficiently and take care of all of a patient’s dental needs in one place at one time.

Dr. Smith has a strong track record of successfully providing root canals, implants extractions, periodontal care, and whatever else his patients need whether they choose oral sedation or not. He is also known for the gentle, caring way he treats his patients.

Oral sedation is the icing on the cake for minimizing dental fear and anxiety and often allowing all dental treatment to be completed in just one comfortable visit.

Whether you choose oral sedation or not, there are benefits to selecting a dentist who has the comprehensive skills to help you save time and visits as you improve your oral health.

Oral Sedation Dentistry is Easier than You Think

oral sedation dentistry

It’s bad enough to be afraid of the dentist, but for some of you a lack of information can make the solution sound scary too.  What you may not know about oral sedation dentistry is how easy it is and how pleasant your experience will be.

First of all, it is safe and effective.  The medication we use has been used safely for decades.  It is really easy too!  You simply take a pill.  No IV.  No extra needles or shots.

Most patients describe a feeling of being completely relaxed, but awake, and they often do not remember their dental visit later. They  are always  happy and grateful that we make this experience available to them.

Sedation dentistry is convenient too.  In most cases you can get all of your dental treatment completed in just one visit.  You save time, trips to the office, and have fewer opportunities to be nervous about your treatment.  Some patients choose sedation dentistry for this reason alone.

If fear of the dentist has been keeping you from taking care of your health or having a smile you are proud of, there is no reason to wait anymore.  We have helped many people just like you have comfortable, relaxed dental experiences.  We love seeing them change from feeling ashamed and fearful to happy and proud.

You can become one of our happy patients, too!

Oral Sedation Dentistry – Choose Your Dentist Wisely

man oral sedation dentist

Oral sedation dentistry is an excellent choice if you are nervous or afraid of the dentist, want a lot of treatment completed in one visit, or have other issues that make visits to the dentist challenging.

Knowing we can help you feel relaxed and calm during your dental visit can be empowering and allow you to finally have the healthy mouth and beautiful smile you deserve.

Not all dentists can legally provide this service and it is important to ask these questions when choosing an oral sedation dentist:

  • What is your training and background?
  • How long have you been providing oral sedation dentistry?
  • What special certifications or licenses do you have that allow you to be an oral sedation dentist?

In our office, Dr. Ron Smith has a long history of being a successful and experienced oral sedation dentist. He has completed advanced training in oral sedation and emergency response and takes continuing education classes every year so that he is up to date with the latest technology and information in the field.

So, what is oral sedation?

It is an easy and comfortable way to feel calm and relaxed during dental treatment. With oral sedation, you simply take a sedative pill that slows the reaction of your nervous system. There are no IV’s or needles involved. We do a thorough screening of your medical history and medications you take before choosing a medication that will be safe and effective for you.

The oral sedation drugs that we use have been used safely on millions of patients and are in the safest category available. You will feel calm and relaxed, but alert and responsive. You will not be asleep.

Over the years, we have helped many patients have dental care that would normally be too afraid or unable to. We made sure they never felt judged for the condition of their mouths when they came in and focused on helping them feel safe and understood. We have witnessed transformations that seemed miraculous and tears of joy.

We love this work and hope that if you are avoiding dental treatment and feel oral sedation dentistry may be the answer, you reach out and get the help you deserve.

Oral Sedation Dentistry – Not Just for Dental Fear & Anxiety

afraid of dental chair dental fearWhen we think about oral sedation dentistry, most of us picture people who are afraid of dentists or have a lot of dental anxiety.  While these patients are the primary users of oral sedation in our practice, there are other reasons people choose sedation that might surprise you.

Oral sedation dentistry may be a good option if:

You have a lot of treatment to get done – with sedation dentistry we can often get all of your treatment completed in one visit, making your dental care easy and convenient. Many people choose this option so they can take just one day off work and not have to come in for several visits.  It is also an excellent choice for people who are very busy, need treatment completed quickly, or travel a lot.

You have a strong gag reflex – for some patients even the simplest dental procedure can become an ordeal.  Oral sedation dentistry is an effective solution for people who gag easily or have trouble holding their mouth open.

Your dental treatment is complex or will require long appointments – in some cases, being able to have the longer visits sedation makes possible will allow your dentist to provide the best possible treatment for your situation.

Your teeth have a history of being difficult to numb – some dental patients require more local anesthesia than others and there are also times when teeth don’t get numb at all. Larger amounts of local anesthesia, especially with epinephrine, can give patients headaches or jitters after their treatment and there are limits as to how much can be given safely.  Oral sedation dentistry allows these patients to have the treatment they need without being concerned about their teeth getting numb.

Sitting in a dental chair is uncomfortable for you – if you have back or neck issues that make your dental visits hard on you, oral sedation can help make them easier.

The next time you or someone you love needs to have dental work, remember that oral sedation is an option that can save time and help you be more comfortable during the process.  You simply take a pill and your dentist does the rest.

One word of caution – be sure that the dentist you choose for oral sedation dentistry has the required advanced credentials and training.
